Sign up for Just a Little Lovin’ 5-10th of August in Denmark has now opened. This is a game for 60 people about the early years of the AIDS epidemic. It will be played in English. This is the third year in row that the game is being held, with previous runs in Norway and Sweden.
The organizers describe the game as such:
A LARP ABOUT FRIENDSHIP, DESIRE AND THE FEAR OF DEATH
1982: It was the summer AIDS came to New York City
Two group of friends from New York City celebrate the 4th of July in upstate New York. The 1970s have been a decade of women’s liberation, youth rebellion, anti-war protests and sexual promiscuity. This changed America forever, but the early 1980s is also a time of a resurging conservative movement which President Ronald Reagan is the sunny face of. Gay men are migrating to New York to become part of the vibrant and hedonistic scene in Greenwitch Village. Unbeknownst to everyone however the HIV virus has started spreading in the city. An article in the New York Times last summer described a mysterious “gay cancer”, but it’s cause remains still unknown.
During the larp we play three 4th of July partys of 1982, 1983 and 1984. Every morning after breakfast there is an act break where we find out what has happened with the characters and their relationships the following year before the next act starts one year later. When the game starts neither the players nor the characters know who will become infected by the virus, but the lives of all the characters will be deeply effected by the epidemic. Our goal for the game is that all the characters will have friendships that are important to them, experience a little bit of lovin’ at the summer parties and feel the fear of death as people around them start to become infected.
The official website for Knutepunkt 2013 is now open and the first sign-up will open on monday. Tickets are available in different price ranges with the most expensive business class tickets going on sale first.
Knutepunkt 2013 is the next instance of the annual pan-nordic conference on nordic style larp called Knutepunkt. Their editorial team is looking for poems for this years edition of the Knutepunkt book:
The editorial team is working with including different expressions of how larping can leave lasting impacts on individuals, and we are, therefore, encouraging you to send us your poems.
We are looking for poems in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish or English – and we are not going to translate or retell them in another language. We hope to get poems about larps and larping, poems that deal with feelings or topics that might’ve touched you during or after a larp, poems written as a part of a debriefing process, or poems written in, or to, a character – or something completely different. If this turns out to be a fruitful idea, and we get enough suitable submissions, we will include the poems in the Knutebook.
If this sounds interesting, please contact us at kpbook13@gmail.com
We’re looking forward to reading your artistic escapades!
The Price of the Bride is nordic style larp organized in Sweden 9-12 May:
Brudpris is a larp in Swedish that focuses on honor culture and patriarchal structures in a world inspired by swedish 19th century village life. The people of Mo believe that women possess a dangerous but necessary force – the force of life. But for the force to be life giving and not destructive for the Mo, it must be quelled and contained. As a man that is your purpose in life, to control that force, and to give a holy promise to do so by taking responsibility for a woman. To fail is to not have any honor and putting your whole people in danger.
With Brudpris we want to explore a fictive honor system that feels real. We are looking for tight, close culture oriented play. The game will be in Swedish, but we welcome Swedish speaking participants from other contries as well.
Dates:
9 – 12 may
Price:
900 SEK full price / 600 SEK students/unemployed

From 12th to 18th of April 2013, Fantasiforbundet is hosting a new event on learning about game design. The week before Knutepunkt, the most important conference on Nordic Larp, we invite 40 young larp designers to Oslo to work together intensively for six days on making and running larps together! We will even cover the travel costs.
It will be played on three occasions in Gothenburg, Sweden during March 1-3, March 8-10 and March 15-17. The game run on March 8-10 will be in English aimed at international players and there is an option for a fourth game on March 22-24 if the other three games become full.
The location of the game is the old Swedish destroyer Småland which will be dressed up as BSG-style spaceship with the help of set dressing, props and technical aids.
The game will be pay and play, the organizers providing costumes and props that are not readily available for players such as uniforms. This means there are different price points for different characters, based on how costly the visual props are for that character class.
Here is a video introduction from the production team:
